All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive at the time of booking confirmation or upon collecting your vehicle. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance coverage, fees, and your obligations related to the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Requirements for Vehicle Rental
- To rent a vehicle in Telford, you must be at least 21 years old, though age restrictions may differ based on vehicle type, with extra charges applicable for drivers under 25. A valid driving licence suitable for the vehicle category is required, along with proof of current address and identification. Payment details and a security deposit must also be provided, along with any further criteria outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be made via our website, over the phone, or directly at our Telford office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The total payment, along with a security deposit, is generally required upon vehicle pickup. All pricing is listed in British Pounds (£) and includes VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, ensuring secure transactions through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, a thorough inspection is required to identify any pre-existing damage, which must be reported immediately. A vehicle condition report will be completed and signed by both parties. It is imperative that the vehicle is returned in the same condition as it was collected, allowing for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and may result in additional charges. The vehicle should also be returned with the same amount of fuel as at collection; refueling fees will be applied if the fuel level is lower. If you anticipate a late return, please inform us as soon as possible, as late returns may incur extra charges. You will be responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges that arise during the rental period, along with a handling fee.
Insurance and Liability Coverage
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance, with full coverage details and excess amounts outlined in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be offered to limit your financial liability. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You remain accountable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess amount, unless additional coverage is obtained. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms falls under your responsibility, irrespective of insurance coverage.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice provided. For precise details, please check your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or failure to show up may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited uses of rental vehicle:
- The vehicle must not be used for any illegal activities. This includes racing, off-roading, or any dangerous driving practices. Transporting hazardous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting to others or allowing unapproved drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of substances, exceeding passenger limits, or venturing outside designated geographical areas without permission is strictly forbidden.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed under English and Welsh law, Car Hire Telford will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our maximum liability for any claim will not exceed the rental amount paid in the last 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or fraud.
Governing Law in Telford
These Terms are regulated by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the relevant courts.
